Over the past ten years I have been working in the field of environmental conservation within an international non-government organisation (NGO) tackling issues such as, threatened species recovery, climate change, marine habitat protection and sustainable livelihoods. In 2009 - 2010 I lived and worked in Fiji as an Australian Youth Ambassador for Development where I was involved with the conservation of wetland ecosystems and community education programs.
I have a passion for incorporating social ethics and environmental know-how into the realm of fashion and design. In 2010 I started a blog called "Kindness by Design", which champions designers of all types who approach their work from an eco-friendly and ethical standpoint.
I spent a large portion of my childhood searching for ways into the magical land of Narnia and revelling in the Golden Age of Cartoons that was the 80's. At University I studied Classical, Celtic and Near Eastern Archaeology (in order to follow in the steps of Indiana Jones) and did my honours in Environmental Politics with a focus on tiger conservation in India.
One of my great loves is writing fiction, whether it be poetry, short stories or novels. My short story "Sorbet & Spiders" was recently selected to be part of a collection published by art gallery 'Sweets Workshop'.
Other interests include:
- Surfing;
- Scuba-diving;
- Astronomy; and
- Well to be honest...a zillion other things...
